I recently taught at the iPhone Bootcamp Montreal – I had a very excellent class with students pushing the limits all weekend.

To all the students who took the class: I’ve emailed out links to all the materials, exercises, etc. If you didn’t get one chances are you’re not on the list I have so email me and I’ll get that to you.

It appears I’ll be teaching the iPhone Bootcamp in both New York and Boston in the next few months – Stay tuned for details!

So, while away teaching the Miami iphone boot camp, Apple, on behalf of Sony sent me this email:

iPhone Boot Camp Miami

We just finished the iphone boot camp in Miami – I think it was a success. We cranked through 20+ exercises and students even stayed late to go over SQLite at 7PM on the second day – heh, have to give respect to them for that!

Thanks to Eduardo at the Brikolodge Miami for accommodating us for the 3x days of the boot camp.

I’m planning on being out in Miami again for another course – so stay tuned for details.

Global Game Jam 2010

I recently wrapped up my participation in the 2010 Global Game Jam at NYU. Over 35 countries came together for the weekend with the single goal of building a game in 24 hours.

And we did it!

Old school.

Throughout the weekend I worked closely with Windozer, a fellow Game Institute coder to create our submission, Its Raining Tomatoes. We started by downloading Unity and reading the tutorials. We had a grandiose vision of a 3d game but quickly realized that was a pipe dream and ditched it for some good ol’e fashion C++, win32/GDI and FMOD.

Overall a great time – regardless of how awful our final game is. = ]

Obj-C & iPhone Boot Camp

This last week and weekend I was the teaching assistant to both Steve Kochan and Jeff LaMarche for the New York iPhone Boot Camp Master Class.

Overall it was great – a LOT of hard work, but a really awesome time, and I definetly learned some key points working so closely with the experts. Nice job Steve & Jeff!

We didn’t cover SQLite in class (because of core data in 3.0) but a few students had requested it, so I built a really simple SQLite example – its attached here (SQLiteView.zip).

5KQuotes now in the iTunes AppStore

My latest application, 5kQuotes, which builds from Wisest One’s codebase, is in the appStore. It includes 5000 compressed quotes, soundFX, accelerometer usage, a settings view, custom tables and the ability to email quotes from within the application.

RapLyrics & RapLyricsRaw Update Released!

Updates to both RapLyrics and RapLyricsRaw have been released to iTunes. This adds over 700 song lyrics (basically all new music in the last 2 months) for the hiphop/rap/r&b genre. So stop reading and go get it RapLyrics (iTunes) and RapLyricsRaw (iTunes)

My newest application, WisestOne, provides “Inspiration on Demand” and is now available in the iTunes AppStore for $.99! This is a really cool app that was fun to build. It includes soundFX in response to user input, which was something new for me. Check it out – I’ll post more about it later.
